POSITION OVERVIEW

The role of the Shared Services Finance team is to provide strong financial support, management, and robust challenges within the business, enabling the Group Financial Controller to report the monthly performance to the ELT and shareholders. The finance team will also ensure a strong financial control environment exists, and proactively support/police the adherence to the company policies and procedures whilst encouraging continuous improvement. We support all our teams with a Business Partnering approach; candidates should be prepared to become a Finance Business Partner within the company, providing support to all levels of staff across our business.

 

 

This position will be the financial controller for our USA/UK division and requires working with the USA/UK and South African finance teams. Due to the position supporting the USA, from time-to-time, you will be required to work USA hours.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and govern the preparation of management accounts
  • Develop and/or enhance accounting policies
  • KPI analysis, providing insights to drive business decision-making
  • Assist with the division budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning process
  • Ensure the company is always compliant in relation to transfer pricing and that all relevant documentation is maintained and updated regularly
  • Management of transactional finance and automation where possible using technology
  • Establish, implement, and document accounting processes in order to scale more efficiently and effectively
  • Be day-to-day contact for the external audit process
  • Ensure division compliance with tax requirements
  • Identify and lead the implementation of General Ledger and associated Financial Systems
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across the division to support optimal decision-making and drive operational performance and efficiency
  • Develop, measure, and maintain key financial metrics
  • Work closely with Finance teams to ensure financial information is real-time and available to key people within the company
  • Oversight and operational management of operational bank accounts
  • Management of cash flow forecasting across the division
  • Identify and suggest operational best practices in the area of finance
  • Proven experience in building out a finance function, including processes, teams, systems
  • Comfortable working with multiple currencies and preparing consolidated accounts
  • Strong analytical and advanced Excel skills
  • Assist the Group GFC with providing the necessary expertise and information when required for special projects

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, confident, and have a flexible approach to work. They should be able to demonstrate good organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize work under pressure, and complete within deadlines. They should be able to communicate effectively with non-finance people in a friendly and courteous manner, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with Clients and colleagues at all levels. The job requires the ability to work well as part of a team but also independently, using their own initiative where appropriate. Other Talent Acquisition Specialist Qualifications Include:

  • BCom or equivalent financial degree
  • Professional qualification (SAIPA / AGA / ACCA) advantageous
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Experience in systems and procedures implementation
  • Logical, systematic approach to understanding and improving processes.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and report on all financial areas.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with constant change
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit/stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset. The employee will be regularly required to operate a computer and other office equipment, including a phone, copier, and printer. The employee may occasionally be required to move about the office to accomplish tasks; reach in any direction; raise or lower objects, move objects from place to place, hold onto objects, and move or exert force up to forty (40) pounds.
